Far Reaches Campaign |
|
This page will be used to document the current status of the Far Reaches Campaign. Players should check here regularly for the latest news, forms updates, and other relevant information. |
Starting with Turn 35, a new Turn Timing will be used (see below).
Players should by now (late October) have noticed that the information on the NForces sheet of their Turn Information files has changed significantly. The NForces page now lists a race's fleets, their locations (system), and the ships contained. For each ship, its type, auxiliary (small) craft, crew grade, and status are listed.
The original information is taken from the Starfire Assistant program. It shall be the responsibility of the individual player to see that this sheet is updated. A player may update a NForces sheet as often as necessary (up to once per turn).
To update the NForces sheet, simply make a copy of the Turn Information file, and delete all sheets except the NForces sheet. Please, be sure to clean out all the other sheets (this dramatically cuts the size of the file). Make the necessary changes to the information, and send the new file to the SM whenever a Turn Log file is submitted. Files with replacement NForces sheets should be named "xxx NForces##.xls". Where "xxx" is the race's name abbreviation, and "##" is the turn number into which the new NForces sheet should be added (normally this will be the upcoming turn).

This one really is important! The procedure for using Starfire Assistant's automatic building of small craft for ships has been added. If you want SA to automatically schedule the construction of your small craft, then take a look at the new entry in the "Working With SA And The SM" section.
MCA (V2.05) Updated (11 July 2000).
"Gun As Weapon" section added to correct an apparent oversight in the preparation of the Tech Systems Codes and Information table (26.02, page 62).
MCA (V2.04) Updated (4 July 2000).
Two new rules were added.
1) A limitation on the source of population for an asteroid colony in the first turn it is colonized. Only one source may be used to found an asteroid colony.
2) The length of time required for a warp point probe has been defined. All probes required 1 StMP, regardless of the type of the probe. To get any data from the probe, it must remain in the probed system for the full time.
Notes on changes prior to the beginning of July have been deleted.
Starting with Turn 35, a new Turn Timing will be in place for the Far Reaches Campaign. Total time for a turn will be up to ten days. This change was made because turns are becoming more complicated and now take significantly longer for the SM to process. [The SM also claims he wants to have a life outside of the Starfire campaign. While I see no need for that, he seems to think it is important.]
After players receive their Turn Information Files, each will have until midnight three days later to send their Log Files. All players should receive their Turn Information Files on the same day.
The SM will endeavor to process Log Files within seven days.
This timing may be extended in the future as turns become more complex.
Warning: The SM regularly accepts late turns. If he has not completed processing the turn when the orders are received, then the late information will be included in the current turn. The SM reminds everyone that he considers himself to be under no obligation to do this. Late turns will be accepted only if he has not already completed the turn processing. Therefore, players submit their turns late at their own peril.
