Introduction
The Reality Behind the History |
The MMoidverse campaign is a cooperative effort between one player and one Space Master (well ... the player cooperates ... the SM, desperately needing to take out his frustrations with his clan of hell-munchkins, isn't always quite so cooperative). While its primary purpose is to acquaint the Space Master with the running of a campaign and to create the forms and procedures to accomplish this, it is still a fully functional Starfire campaign.
When reading this "history" it should be remembered that the Holy MMoid Empire (HME) has one great advantage not enjoyed by most Starfire player races (PR). As the only player race in the campaign, almost everything happens only if the MMoids take action. Therefore, the HME has a track record of extreme caution in exploration and expansion. A corollary of this is that the HME is able to stop and deal with each problem NPR as encountered, generally without worrying about another PR using the time to expand. Of course the down side of this is that each hostile NPR has only the HME as an adversary.
In order to make the campaign a learning experience, it is sometimes required that the HME do some things which are not necessarily the best moves in a given situation. This insures that as many situations as possible will be covered for the Space Master. [For the record, that is my explanation for any dumb moves someone sees; and I intend to stick to it.]
The information for the early entries in the history may seem a bit brief. Much of this is because this history was started when the campaign had reached Turn 70. Much of the early information had been lost or had to be reconstructed from order logs and turn files.
Finally, entries which are italicized and in brackets ("[]") indicate "out of character" comments by the player. Italicized notes in braces ("{}") indicate information not known to the race at the indicated time.
