Scotland Campaign

Ars Magica is a constant favorite with the local historical gamers. A campaign starts up every few years. The Scotland Campaign was started to meet this desire for a historical role playing game.
The Campaign Master simply declared that a campaign would occur. The players who said they wanted to play were called up to pick the location, time period, and design the covenant. That was probably a mistake on his part. They selected mid-11th Century Transylvania with a massive, but decaying, stone castle on a rocky hill. Somewhat more knowledgeable heads pointed out that such a structure just didn't exist in 11th Century Transylvania. Other problems were also found with the "twinked-out" nature of the covenant.
Realizing the need for sanity, or at least common sense, the Campaign Master stepped in and moved the game's location to the lowlands of Scotland (or, to be more exact, he gave everyone a limited choice of locations, and Scotland won). The outlandish nature of the covenant itself was also toned down to something almost reasonable. With that done, and after a few months of preparation, the campaign was launched with "The Monolith" scenario from the Mythic Places scenario book.
