Scotland Campaign

Campaign History
The Scotland Campaign is run as a series of scenarios set within a greater background context. Most scenarios are finished in one gaming session, although two sessions are not uncommon. Scenarios may also leave open story lines if they are not completed or if such is built into the scenario.
General Background
In the year 1066, the Primus of the Covenant of Loch Laggan finally realized that his covenant was dying. There were only three magi present, including himself, and only one apprentice. If something wasn't done, the covenant would probably disappear within fifty years.
Late that year, the Primus sent a letter to many covenants of the Order of Hermes throughout Europe. This letter asked that young magi seriously consider coming to Loch Laggan. The old requirements to join the covenant were dropped, to encourage magi to join.
Apparently the Primus' letter worked. Young magi began to converge on the covenant in 1067. Some came from as far as Russia and Transylvania. Others were from closer in Scotland or England.

| Winter 1067 | The last of the magi, Domnall mac Sernach, arrived at the beginning of this season. He and the magi not already off at The Monolith handled the annual vis collection at The Vis Cave. | |
| Spring 1068 | Late in the season most of the magi decided to go back out to continue the investigation of The Monolith. Soon after, a problem arose which required the last of the magi, Marcus, to deal with The Faerie Temple. | |

Seasons & Years
Ars Magica bases its non-adventuring time on seasons within a year. Activities such as studying, practice, and writing take place within these seasons. It is a simple time accounting system. However, sometimes it becomes important to specify the time within a year more exactly than "summer". In such cases, it is necessary to know which months fall within which season. Since this relationship may vary based on the locality, the Campaign Master must define it specifically. For the Scotland Campaign this is set as the following.
| Spring: | January, February, March | |
|---|---|---|
| Summer: | April, May, June | |
| Autumn: | July, August, September | |
| Winter: | October, November, December |
