This rule applies to magi who are members of the Covenant of the Mystic Halls.
Each magus must design and create his or her own living quarters within the covenant. Players should prepare a scale drawing showing the quarters. Include room sizes, wall lengths, etc. (use graph paper if possible). The placement and size of furniture should also be shown. Magi may request the specific area in which they would like the quarters located, but the actual placement will depend on how all the quarters fit together.
The following requirements apply to the living quarters.
- The quarters must be within an area which is consistent with the revised diagram of the Covenant of the Mystic Halls (Level 4).
- A 5 foot wide hallway leading in from the main hallway does not count against the total space in the quarters. Only one door may open off of this hallway into the living quarters.
- An entrance must be located so as to directly access the entrance hallway.
- A magus must have a space allocated for a laboratory. The minimum size for a laboratory is 100 square feet.
- A minimum of 100 square feet must be included for the magus' living area.
- A minimum of 75 square feet must be included for each consor.
- A minimum of 50 square feet must be included for each grog or servant.
- Any internal hallways must be at least 4 feet wide. Internal hallways count against the total space in the quarters.
- The space required for doorways does not count against the total space ("doorway" shall mean the one foot thick by three or four foot wide opening in which a door does or could set).
- All rooms must be on the same level, multi-story residences are not allowed.
- Dividing walls between rooms within the quarters must be at least one foot thick and do not count against the total space.
- Walls around the quarters will be a minimum of four feet thick. This will be controlled by the Campaign Master when the quarters are placed in the covenant.
A magus is "given" 500 square feet of space for free. For each extra 200 square feet or part thereof, the magus must spend one pawn of vis to clear the space. Any type of vis may be used (this "cost" is to help keep things reasonable, not to explain how the area is cleared). Quarters may be expanded in the future, provided there is space available.
The campaign master has the right to refuse to accept a design if it is unreasonable (typically this would be because it is too small or not realistic for the times).
