Notes
| Note | Note Explanation | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The books of Gregor of House Bonisagus are large, beautifully illustrated books. Each has a gold inlayed leather over wood cover and is kept in a large decorated case. The cases are magically enchanted to protect the book from damage while it is inside the case. Note that the magic is on the case, not the book. Covenant policy requires that these books be kept in their cases whenever not in actual use. | |
| 2 | This large book has a heavy cover and a large, enchanted, gold clasp. The word "Creo" must be spoken as the clasp is undone, or the user will be struck by a lightning bolt (Incantation of Lightning). | |
| 3 | This book is written on what appears to be human skin, possibly with an ink based on human blood. The leather cover is embossed with images of skulls and bones. A clasp made of a skeletal hand holds the covers closed. The clasp will loosen only when a drop of the reader's blood touches the hand's bones. | |
| 4 | Anyone attempting to open this book must first cast a level 5 spontaneous Perdo Vim spell on the book. Failure to do this will result in the person being struck by a Perdo Corporem spell of level 30. If the spell has an effect (i.e., it penetrates the Parma Magica or any magic resistance), the target suffers +15 points of magical damage which cannot otherwise be resisted. | |
| 5 | This book resembles a large tree limb (about two feet long by five inches in diameter). A spontaneous level 5 Muto Herbam spell will cause it to transform into a book. The transformation will last for Sun duration. The book will transform only once per day. | |
| 6 | Anyone attempting to open this book must first cast a level 10 spontaneous Muto Corporem spell on the book. Failure to do this will result in the person being struck by a Muto Corporem spell of level 50. If the spell has an effect (i.e., it penetrates the Parma Magica or any magic resistance), the target immediately gains a Decrepitude Point (and any longevity potion ceases to function). | |
