Notes
| Note | Note Explanation | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The cover of this book has numerous Hermetic symbols etched on it. Immediately prior to opening the book, the sign for Imagonem must be traced by a person with the Gift. If this is not done, the book will become invisible for a period of one month. The book can still be felt, but cannot be read by any means mundane or magical. If this magic on the book is dispelled, the book will crumble into ashes. | |
| 2 | Every time this book is opened it will cast a level 20 Muto Mentem spell on the person opening the book. If Parma Magica or magic resistance fails, the user may make a saving throw of 15 verses Int. If the user fails, the spell will cause the user to close and forget the book for a Moon duration. If the user botches (no Confidence may be used), the book is forgotten for a year.
For campaign play, if used for a season the user rolls against 4 openings. If they pass all of the rolls, the book may be used safely for the season. If there is a failure, they forget the book for 30 days, the time is wasted, and is deducted from their study time. If there are three or more failures, they forget the book for the entire season (the maximum for failures is a full season of forgetting). In this case, the season is wasted. If there is a botch, they forget the book for four seasons, and will deny having the book during this time. In any case, when the book is forgotten for a season or more, the initial season of study is wasted. |
