Introduction
Ars Magica is a constant favorite with the local historical gamers. A campaign starts up every few years. The New Elfridge Campaign was started to meet the ongoing desire for a historical role playing game.
Unlike previous campaigns, which were organized assuming campaign information would be presented and accessed on-line, the support materials for this campaign will be primarily downloads available from this site. Experience has shown that it is much more effective to have all the support materials printed out and available during play.
As this is being written, the campaign is just forming. The players are creating their characters and attempting to influence the decisions of the Campaign Masters.
Campaign Format
The New Elfridge Campaign is run as a series of episodes set within an overall background context. Each episode typically takes from one to three gaming sessions, and is a self contained scenario, although there may be open ended elements which lead to plots in other episodes. There may or may not be a master plot for the campaign (one may emerge as play moves forward).
The campaign is controlled by the Campaign Master(s), who organize the campaign, provide the overall direction, approve characters, place limits on the Game Masters and specific episodes, and run a notable portion of the game sessions. Any player is free (encouraged) to create and run episodes.
